Booking an actors headshot session with Morag MacDonald
What should I wear?
Plain and neutral clothing and necklines work best for actors headshots. A black t-shirt or jumper with a round or v neck is best. You may wish to bring along a couple of changes, I am advised that most agents and casting directors like simple clothing that show the neckline. Please avoid anything too patterned, brightly coloured or with large stripes.
Do I need a make-up artist?
Having your hair and make-up done professionally can make you feel more confident but you should not change yourself too much, I am told by casting directors that any make-up should be light and natural. If you would like to add the services of a makeup artist you may do so, fees vary but average at £120 per session.
Can I buy extra images?
Of course. Any images you purchase above those in your package wil be lightly retouched and supplied in both colour and B&W, in high res for print and web optimised for uploading to Spotlight etc. Extra images are priced at £30.
Where do shoots take place?
Actors headshots are photographed in my comfortable studio at the Paintworks in Arnos Vale, Bristol. There is good space to outdoor headshots nearby. We are easy to find, just off the Bath Rd. There is ample free on-site parking and Temple Meads railway station is is just a 15 minute walk (or short taxi ride) away. You can get a bus to the Paintworks from the city centre, bus and train stations.
Do you supply prints?
I can supply prints at an extra cost. The high-resolution files supplied on your memory stick are optimised for print and printing rights are released allowing you to make prints as and when you need to at a lower rate. We recommend using a high quality photo lab like 'Clifton Colour' in the Clifton Down Shopping Centre on Whiteladies Rd in Bristol.
